Our summer concert celebrating the music of Byrd, Bruckner and JS Bach was supported by students from Gower College and Olchfa School. They gave accomplished and moving performances of works by John Ireland and Ralph Vaughan Williams.
The continuo accompaniment by John Cheer and Claudine Liddington in the Bach Jesu Meine Freude added to a beautiful performance of this extraordinary work .
Our Chair, Hazel Phillips, said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to sing again in St Mary’s with the fabulous acoustics which were superb when singing unaccompanied as well as when supported by the chamber organ and cello for the Jesu Meine Freude.
Our thanks must go to all those who helped behind the scenes to help make the evening such a success; they are the unsung heroes and their unfailing support is much appreciated. Of course, special thanks to both Susan and Jonathan: Susan, as our accompanist, who is seemingly never fazed by our repertoire; and Jonathan, whose dedication and commitment as Musical Director and Conductor continues to ensure that every performance by the choir is of the highest standard”.
