Swansea Philharmonic Choir has presented a cheque for £1,600 to the Salvation Army.
Vice Chair, Catrin Alun, and Musical Director, Jonathan Rogers, gave the donation to Corps Secretary of the Morriston branch of the Salvation Army, Helen Mason.
The money was raised at the Choir’s Christmas charity concert of carols and readings with organist Huw Tregelles Williams, at All Saints’ Church, Oystermouth. One of the highlights of the concert was the premiere of a new arrangement of ‘O Men from the Fields‘ by Gareth Treseder, a Swansea-born tenor and composer. The arrangement was dedicated to Gareth’s former teacher and mentor, the late Dr. Ian Graham and his wife Mrs. Barbara Graham, a former member of the Choir.
Helen Mason said:
“Thank you to the Choir for their kindness in wanting to give the proceeds of the concert to the work we do in the community of Morriston, as you can imagine with the cost of living crisis that we are very much in demand at present, so this money will go towards us helping people who are in need”.
