The SPC were kindly invited to be part of the Swansea International Festival’s concert to celebrate and commemorate the reign of HM Queen Elizabeth ll at the the Brangwyn Hall on 29th October 2022.
It was a huge honour for us to be conducted by Sir Karl Jenkins in a moving performance of a piece commissioned by the festival. It was such a privilege to be sharing the stage with Catrin Finch, Ellen Williams, Steffan Lloyd Owen and the British Sinfonietta. Another composer present was Eric Jones. We performed his work Y Tangnefeddwyr, arranged for choir and orchestra. This proved to be very emotional and full of hiraeth.
Hazel Philips our Choir chair said: “What a fantastic evening! I’d like to thank everyone who took part and pulled out all the stops to make it such a memorable event. Congratulations to all involved!”
Thanks to our amazing conductor Jon Rogers and accompanist Susan Croall we were able to take part in an exceptional and memorable concert.
Jon said: “I was immensely proud of the choir’s contribution in what was a wonderful programme of music and crucially, a very important event for the city. The quality of singing was exceptional and bodes well for our future involvement with the Swansea Festival.”
