Susan Croall
It is with a heavy heart that we share the sad news of the passing of Susan Croall, our cherished accompanist and friend. Susan was synonymous with Swansea Philharmonic Choir giving unparalleled service spanning nearly six decades. As our accompanist, she was a constant presence with unswerving dedication and devotion at each rehearsal. Susan’s immense talent will be deeply missed. Beyond the music, her compassion and presence touched each of us, creating memories we shall carry forward. She is a massive loss to the Choir on so many levels and she will be greatly missed. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family and loved ones during this difficult time.
To honour Susan’s legacy, we will be dedicating our upcoming performance of Verdi’s Requiem in her memory, gathering together to remember and celebrate the beautiful music she gifted us.

Welcome to the website of Swansea Philharmonic Choir
Swansea Philharmonic Choir was founded in 1959 under the baton of Dr Haydn James, recognised as a leading figure in choral music, with a mission to ‘raise the standard of choral singing in Wales and perform less familiar music as well as choral classics.’ His aim has continued through the years under the excellent 30-year musical leadership of Clive John and remains at the foundation of the Choir under the musical direction of our inspiring conductor, Jonathan Rogers, since 2015. We are a mixed choir of about 100 singers and we enjoy learning and performing a wide repertoire of choral music, from Renaissance and Baroque to 21st century. In this our 2024-2025 season we would like to express our gratitude for sponsorship which we have received from Gower College Swansea and from Peter Lynn & Partners for our November 2024 concert, as well as sponsorship from the Gower Society for our November 2024 and Easter 2025 concerts respectively.
Swansea Philharmonic Choir prides itself on performing high quality music for the enjoyment of all. Please browse our website to find out more about the Choir. If you’d like to join and sing with us, have a look at our page about joining the Choir and get in touch! We would love to hear from you!
